School Meals - Healthy Eating
Children may have school meals or bring a packed lunch. The current cost of meals is available from the School Office. Foundation and Key Stage 1 children (Reception - Year 2) are entitled to universal free school meals. We use the HCL Food Ordering System for parents to order and pay for meals.
All children eating on the school premises are supervised by a team of Midday Supervisory Assistants.
Children will be encouraged to eat all of each meal, and those who bring packed lunches will bring home anything they do not eat. Please do not include glass bottles, fizzy drinks and sweets in packed lunches and remember we are a nut and sesame free school (note: sesame is an ingredient of hummus).
We participate in the Government’s School Fruit and Vegetable Scheme and have received accreditation from the National Healthy Schools Scheme and the Herts Quality Standard. In KS2, children may bring a healthy snack for the morning break. Fruit is provided in Foundation/KS1 on a daily basis.
Milk and other drinks
During the morning break Foundation/Key Stage 1 children may have a drink of milk or water; milk is free for Nursery children and those aged under 5. Children are asked to bring in a named water bottle each day. Drinking fountains are available in the school.
